Location
Explore the plazas, markets, hidden courtyards, cobbled streets, museums and churches on our doorstep.
HR is on the Northern edge of the Unesco Heritage listed Historical Center (old town) 15 minutes walk to
Plaza Grande. Our suburb San Blas is officially part of el Centro Historico and under strict building
regulations (some guidebooks incorrectly show this area as "between the old and new town"). The La Mariscal
or "gringo land" area with modern restaurants and nightlife is a 20 minute walk away or 5 -10 minutes by bus or cab.
HR is:
In a colonial style house located within the historical part of Quito.
Only a block away from beautiful recently restored park alameda (oldest park in Quito)
And a few blocks from Itchimbia Park which has the best views of Quito
Close to all the major attractions of world heritage listed colonial Quito (all within 25 minute walk)
Close to quality inexpensive shops, restaurants, cafes etc.
In a nice street surrounded by colonial buildings which have been restored or under restoration.
Is very close to Quitos three main bus lines which have their own lanes, cost is .25cents and it is
the fastest way of getting around.

Transport
Getting from the Airport
Taxi ranks with official yellow cabs are out the front of the arrival lounge. You need to negotiate a price as the
taxis do not use their meters from the airport (around $7-8). To negotiate ask ´cuanta cuesta la esquina los rios
y Julio Castro, cerca parque alameda´(how much is it to the corner of los rios and julio castro, close to park alameda).
You can also buy a prepaid ticket from the taxi booth, Once you agree on the price we are about 20-30 minutes
away (depending on the traffic). It is also possible to catch the metro bus to the Parque Alameda stop, though we
recommend a taxi at night or when the bus is busy for security reasons.
Local Bus
We are one block from the Ecovia bus stop at Alameda Park. There is no steep walk uphill from the bus stop to the
hostel. The new ecovia has a dedicated lane which allows for quick and cheap transport from the north to the south
of Quito (25c) along 6 de deciembre (Mariscal is just 5 minutes away). Also a few minutes walk is the trolley bus
system, similar to the ecovia, it runs north to south in quito valley along 10 de Agosto. The Metro Bus, additionally, is
very close and runs along Avenida America west of the trolley all the way to the airport and the interchange for the
equator line, mitud del mundo.
National Bus
There are now (from July 2009) two main bus stations for trips around ecuador. One is in the South (Quitumbe)
which is about one hour it is possible to get here in the trolley bus (.25c) but be careful
for pickpockets. Take the trolley bus to El Recreo, then take another bus north to Alameda stop. From the station at
Carcelen in the North of Quito take a bus to La Y trolley station and then take the trolley South to Alemada.
